Christine is heavily stalked during the events of the original novel by Erik and, in my opinion, Raoul as well.

Sarah’s experience with Erik watching over her has some comparisons to Christine’s. She does, however, shut him down relatively quickly and Erik has grown since the events of the original novel.

During the second world war, France was invaded by the Nazis and the Palais Garnier was taken as a propaganda hub to promote the Third Reich. Hitler himself visited. Members of the Palais Garnier were suspected collaborators. As such, Erik will be revealed to have witnessed these events, been rightfully upset by them, and have used the tunnels to help hide those harmed by the Nazi Regime. This was a horrible time and history and while it will be discussed, no character will ever support it.
