Sarah Lucas

Sarah, gazing into the distance while holding her guide dog Caesar’s harness, dressed in dark academia-style travel clothes and carrying a brown suitcase

Age: 22

From: Galveston, Texas

Career: Influencer

Favorite Adaptation: Gaston Leroux's original novel

Biography: Sarah has always been curious about the world. When she was young, it was ghost stories from around town and musicals; when she was older, it was history and how the world worked.

The day after seeing the touring cast of Phantom of the Opera in Houston as a pre-teen, Sarah was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic condition that creates progressive vision loss.

Her new view of how the world treated those who were different, her love of stories, and her desire to make the world a better place led her to study journalism at The University of Texas at Austin, where she worked at the university's radio station.

Shortly after graduating and beginning work in Lubbock, Texas, as a nighttime producer for a local TV station, Sarah created her own video series online in her free time called Villains Unmasked, which explored the history of villains in media, why they are made the villains, what they represent, and who made them the villains.

One video on The Phantom blew up almost overnight, allowing her to work full-time on the series and move back home to Galveston. Soon, she was invited by the Palais Garnier itself not only to create a follow-up series to that video but also to stay in the opera house and investigate the history behind the story, whether it was real, and what it says about the world today.

But while Sarah still works as if she were in journalism, focusing on the truth rather than sensationalism, some inside and outside the opera house would rather the truth stay buried.

Outside of work, Sarah is a slightly awkward but enthusiastic woman with a heart some may say is a bit too big and a determination to fix any problem she sees.

Erik/ O.G./The Phantom

Age: ???

From: ???

Career: Architect, Composer, Professional Ghost, Engineer

Favorite Adaptation: None. All of them are "melodramatic, inaccurate, humiliating pantomimes of [his] suffering."

Biography: You know his story. Or at least you think you do.

Some bits are true. His face, his temper, his genius, his timultuous life. But what else is true and what is false? You won't find it here.

Erik, aka the Phantom of the Opera, glaring at the camera without his mask and leaning on his cane. Wearing a suit and tie that barely avoids dwarfing his skeletal form.

Gauvain de Chagney

Gauvain de Chagney, the young proper red head, fixing fixing his cufflinks as he judges something off camera.

Age: 29

From: Paris, France

Career: Head of the De Chagney Family Trust, CEO of De Changey Hotels and Resorts, Advisor to the Ministry of Culture, possible senate candidate

Favorite Adaptation: A tie: the 2004 movie and the Robert Englund adaptation.

Biography: Gauvain de Chagney grew up in a world of luxury and legacy, but that never made him lazy. In fact, if there was one word to describe Gauvain, it would be ambitious.

After graduating top of his class at Lycée Henri-IV, he attended the École Libre des Sciences Politiques and spent a year abroad at Harvard. He was then lucky enough to be invited to study at the Institut National du Service Public.

Unfortunately, shortly after he began his journey at INSP, the COVID-19 Pandemic hit and his father, Hector de Chagney, died from the disease. Gauvain stepped away from INSP and was named interim head of the family trust and began to take on more responsibilities with the De Chagney Hotels and Resorts organization.

Despite the hard times, Gauvain managed to keep the company and trust afloat and became CEO of the company and permanent head of the family trust at just 25.

At 27, Gauvain began working as an Advisor to the Ministry of Culture. As of 2026, he is considering running for Senate, but the press have taken to framing this consideration as an inevitable run.

Andrew Khan

Age: 57

From: Paris, France

Career: General Manager at the Palais Garnier

Favorite Adaptation: The 1988 animated film.

Biography: Andrew grew up at the Palais Garnier, watching his parents work in management and production, running around the ancient halls, and watching rehearsals while doing homework.

He studied Arts Administration at the Sorbonne before returning to the opera, where he worked as a Programming Coordinator.

Because of his history, intense loyalty, and understanding of the place, he quickly worked his way up while falling in love with his future wife, Fatimeh, with whom he had two children.

He became General Manager of the opera at 42, and those working in the opera know him as the best boss you'll ever have. He remembers your children's birthdays, brings donuts every Monday that he pays for himself, and insists that no one is higher or lower on the work totem pole than anyone; they're all just doing different but equal work.

Despite the cheery, sometimes stressed demeanor, Andrew knows more than he lets on about the opera and its inhabitants.

Andrew, a large, older man, fiddling with his suit collar as he sweats a little.

Camille Khan

Camille in her ballet dress for swan lake mid dance, winking at the camera.

Age: 23

From: Paris, France

Career: Sujet for the Corps de Ballet in the Palais Garnier

Favorite Adaptation: The ALW musical

Biography: Camille has been in love with Ballet since she was just four, when her parents took her to see The Nutcracker at the Palais Garnier. After the show, she insisted on becoming a ballerina herself and trained until she could enter the Paris Opera Ballet School.

It took years, but eventually she did join the Palais Garnier as a Quadrille. Through extremely hard work, refusing to give in to the politics of professional ballet, a love for her fellow dancers, and a not-so-healthy does of perfectionism, she worked her way up to Sujet.

Outside of the ballet, she knows the best social scenes in Paris, has a love for all things elegant, and is the ultimate girl's girl.

She would also like to make it clear, for the record, that Khan is a very common last name.

Age: 54

From: Lahore, Pakistan

Career: History Professor at the Sorbonne

Favorite Adaptation: Yeston and Kopit's 1990 miniseries

Biography: Fatimah has lived through many experiences that shaped her into the woman she is today.

Fatimah was interested in the arts, especially poetry and literature, from a young age, growing up in Lahore, a cultural highlight in Pakistan, and watched in real time how the world would either use stories to their advantage or get rid of them, depending on who it would benefit.

Her interest only grew at the Kinnaird College for Women, where she studied history and minored in French.

Interested in the colonial influences on the arts and modern history, Fatimah applied and was accepted into a graduate program at the Sorbonne.

While working as a lecturer there, she took a class to a performance at the Palais Garnier, where she met Andrew, who was only a mid-level administrator at the time.

Years later, she's a loving mother a strict professor at Sorbonne, and very suspicious of young Sarah, who she feels is looking for truths that would be better left alone.

Fatimah Khan

Fatimah, the Khan matriarch, fixing her glasses and holding a book in her free hand.

Caesar

Caesar the black labrador guide dog, looking at the camera to beg you for treats.

Age: 4

From: Sylmar, California

Career: Guide Dog

Favorite Adaptation: Wishbone Season 1 Episode 37: Pantin' at the Opera

Biography: Caesar was born into a litter of four puppies, all selected by Guide Dogs of America*.

Caesar quickly excelled in training, especially in Intelligent Disobedience, and was paired with Sarah, his handler, at age two.

He doesn't exactly understand why there's a guy staring through the mirror sometimes at Sarah, or what the black square Sarah uses for work is, but he's just happy to be involved as long as there's a treat afterwards.

*But for real, though, there are amazing dogs in the real world, like Caesar, doing incredible work every day through GDA for the visually impaired, autistic individuals, trauma survivors, and veterans.
